Bill API calls, AI tokens and digital events
Modern digital services produce measurable usage just as communications and utilities do. Selcomm can ingest API calls, AI tokens, transactions, events, tasks, workflows, data volume and other units, then apply the appropriate mediation, rating and commercial rules.
Usage can be attributed to the customer, product, application, team, project or cost centre that caused it. This supports external customer billing as well as internal allocation, showback and clearer analysis of cost and margin.
From provider cost to customer charge
API and AI services create two related commercial questions: what should the customer be charged, and where did the underlying cost originate? Selcomm can connect a measured event to customer and organisational hierarchies, apply the appropriate subscription, allowance, credit, tier, overage or contract rate, and carry the result into the wider billing environment.
Where provider cost data is available, the same attribution can support cost-centre accountability and analysis of the relationship between consumption, customer charge and margin. This may be used for customer billing, internal allocation or showback according to the operating model.
Keep ingestion flexible
Usage and cost data can enter through APIs, event streams, operational feeds or structured files. FOCUS-formatted cost-and-usage data may be used as one technical integration format where appropriate; it is not the centre of the proposition. The value comes from correctly identifying the customer, product, team, project or cost centre, then applying Selcomm’s mediation, rating and commercial rules.
Use proven billing foundations for new consumption models
API and AI usage does not need an isolated billing stack. It can participate in Selcomm’s established customer, product, account, payment and reporting environment while retaining the units and pricing structures appropriate to each digital service.
